⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A must-visit in Newcastle! The Signal Box is a standout in Newcastle’s dining scene. The menu offers a great variety and has something for everyone, everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and the prices are reasonable for the quality, which makes it even better. But what really made the experience exceptional was the service. The staff were warm, welcoming, and you can see they genuinely enjoy what they do, and it shows. It’s refreshing to be in a place where the team is clearly passionate and takes pride in creating a great experience for guests. A huge thank you to The Signal Box team for making our visit such a memorable one. We’ll definitely be back!
I took my Nan who was visiting from Samoa. Food was top notch, oysters were fresh. The mignonette was the best I've ever had! Risotto had plenty of depth and the right amount of saltiness! Nan loved her pan fried Tuna with salad (yum). The wait staff were friendly and great at conversation making. Highly recommend.
What's not to like about this place! The atmosphere is calm, clean and inviting, and its easy to chat with friends without too much noise. The food was also on-point! Absolutely delicious. Staff we're attentive, friendly and ready to have a laugh with you, and food came out hot and quick. There's also a great range of cocktails and drinks!

Stumbled on this little gem on a work trip to Newcastle. It’s been 15 years since I was last in this lovely town and I am stoked to have been lucky enough to get a table for dinner. Entire: Sashimi - holy moly what a delight! Lemongrassy, mild chillie, smooth cool coconut deliciousness. Ok ok I could have shared it, but I was by myself so yep, ate the lot! Main: Pork Belly / Scollops. Ummm. Yes please! It’s a good sized portion! Crackle (check)! The atmosphere is casual but chic. The high ceilings of the repurposed signal building make it feel spacious. The food came out quick on order. The wine was served quick on order. I like this! The waitstaff are friendly, prompt and helpful. It’s nice to see people looking like they kinda like what they do and want to provide a good representation of the whole experience. Before I finished my entree I was sending messages to friends all over the world about coming here to meet soon because the sashimi was just *chefs kiss*. Well done to the signal house team. I am impressed and may visit Newcastle just to dine with you again, if you’ll let me!
Beautiful balmy night across the road from the harbour. Lovely open plan dining area, very clean and well spaced. Has an upstairs but I don't think that was open when we were there. Friendly greeting on arrival. Polite and attentive staff who knew about the food and wines. Delicious dinner. The old boy had barramundi, best ever he said. The wine that was recommended is now my new favourite. It was easy to find a park but we did go on Wednesday evening at 6.30, it may get busy towards the weekend Very happy for a return visit
My wife and I had a beautiful dinner for our anniversary and will be back again. Staff were very friendly, happy and professional. Our waitress was Rozelle, I believe, super friendly and had a good chat. The food was delicious, and the timing was spot on. Appreciated everyone making our night a memorable one.
Had a lovely lunch here for a birthday. The staff were amazing, especially our server Dani, who was helpful, polite and very attentive. The food itself was delicious and even when the restaurant was busy, the wait times were very reasonable! Dietary requirements were catered for with vegan and gluten free options available. Will definitely be going back!
